Northern Lights is looking for an experienced Shipping & Logistics Operator to join our Operations and Logistics team in Stavanger.

This is an opportunity for someone with a strong operational background in shipping, maritime logistics, ports, terminals or related logistics operations. You enjoy coordinating complex activities, solving operational challenges and working across multiple interfaces. You thrive in a dynamic environment where operational, commercial and customer considerations come together.

You do not need previous experience in CO₂ shipping or CCS. What matters is that you bring relevant operational experience, sound judgement and the ability to understand and optimise a complex logistics chain.

Where you fit in

As Shipping & Logistics Operator, you will be part of the Operations team, coordinating the flow of CO₂ from our customers through transport and storage.

The role covers logistics planning, cargo coordination, terminal activities, commercial matters and longer-term planning. You will balance day-to-day priorities with customer needs, contractual requirements, cost and overall value chain performance.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders across the value chain to ensure safe, reliable and efficient delivery.

What Northern Lights can offer

NLJV is pioneering the world's first open-source CO2 transport and storage network. Collaborating with industrial emitters across Europe, this presents a truly exciting opportunity to be part of something unique. Our company consists of a team of committed, experienced and dedicated colleagues in a positive and inclusive work environment.

We have modern offices in Byfjordparken, a vibrant workspace situated close to the city of Stavanger, by the fjord. At Byfjordparken, one can easily walk, cycle, or take the bus. Byfjordparken is complemented by amenities such as a subsidized lunch at our excellent canteen.

We understand the importance of work-life balance, offering the flexibility to partially work from home. Additionally, we provide a competitive salary package, along with comprehensive pension and insurance schemes.

What will you be doing?

  • Plan and coordinate day-to-day activities while contributing to longer-term logistics planning and optimisation.

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, shipowners, terminals and service providers.

  • Use operational insight, data and commercial understanding to identify improvements and support sound decisions.

  • Help develop operational concepts, processes, tools and ways of working as Northern Lights grows and the logistics network evolves.

  • Participate in the team standby duty arrangement.

The exact mix of responsibilities will depend on your background and experience. We are building a team with complementary skills and welcome candidates with different backgrounds across shipping, maritime, logistics and commercial operations.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates with solid experience from one or more areas such as shipping operations, logistics, port or terminal operations, cargo operations, marine operations, logistics planning, commercial shipping operations, offshore or energy logistics, or similar operational environments.

You may currently work as a shipping or vessel operator, logistics coordinator, port or terminal operator, planner, marine coordinator, commercial operator, or in another relevant operational role. A seagoing background combined with relevant shore-based experience is also valuable.

We believe you will succeed in this role if you:
  • Are structured, analytical and comfortable working with operational data and digital planning tools.

  • Can make sound decisions and prioritise effectively in a dynamic operational environment.

  • Have commercial awareness and understand how contracts, operational decisions and logistics performance are connected.

  • Remain effective when plans change and operational priorities compete.

A relevant university degree within maritime studies, shipping, logistics, business, engineering or a related discipline is an advantage. Relevant operational experience can be equally valuable, and we encourage candidates with strong practical maritime or logistics backgrounds to apply.

Fluency in English is required. Norwegian language skills are beneficial.

Om bedriften

Northern Lights JV is responsible for developing and operating CO 2 transport and storage facilities, open to third parties, as part of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project. We started our operations in August 2025 and we are the first ever cross-border, open-source CO 2 transport and storage infrastructure network, shipping CO 2 to an onshore receiving terminal at Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast, before being transported by pipeline for safe storage in a reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.

Northern Lights JV DA is a registered, incorporated General Partnership with Shared Liability (DA) owned equally by Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies.
