ZTL is building the next generation of bank-independent payment infrastructure. We provide modern, API-driven payment solutions that enable software platforms and system owners to offer seamless financial services to thousands of businesses.

We’re now looking for a Tech Lead who wants to play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our regulated payment platform.

As a Tech Lead in ZTL, you’ll work closely with the CTO, Product, DevOps, and the engineering team to balance delivery speed, quality, scalability, and regulatory requirements.

• Contribute to and refine ZTL’s technical strategy together with the CTO

• Set direction for architecture, scalability, and long-term system health

• Translate product goals and regulatory requirements into pragmatic technical solutions

• Work hands-on in the code while guiding architectural decisions

• Lead design discussions and code reviews

• Identify and manage technical debt over time

• Ensure high standards for code quality, security, and reliability

• Support and mentor engineers

• Improve engineering processes and collaboration

• Work closely with Product and DevOps to ensure smooth, predictable delivery

• Contribute to hiring and team growth when needed

• You have solid experience building modern backend or full-stack systems, ideally in cloud environments

• You’ve contributed to system design and architectural decisions in a product-driven environment

• You understand the balance between engineering excellence and pragmatic delivery

• You care about security, scalability, and reliability, especially in regulated environments

• You enjoy writing code, but are equally motivated by helping others succeed.

• You communicate effectively in Norwegian and English

Experience in fintech, payments, APIs, or regulated systems is a strong advantage, but curiosity and the ability to learn fast matter more than ticking every box.

We run our applications in the cloud (Microsoft Azure), using containerized services, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.

Our current stack includes:

• Kotlin, Ktor, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Next.js, React, Typescript

• Docker, Kubernetes, Helmfile, Bitbucket Pipelines

• Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Slack, Miro, Jira, Confluence

You don’t need hands-on experience with every tool in our stack. If you’ve worked with similar technologies and understand the underlying principles, you’ll ramp up quickly.

You won’t just maintain a system, you’ll shape how we build it. From architecture decisions to engineering culture, your influence will be tangible.

Payments are not simple. You’ll work at the intersection of infrastructure, compliance, product, and real business value.

You’ll have technical ownership, but always within a tight-knit, ambitious team that builds together.

We’re scaling across markets and expanding our platform. That means room to grow, both technically and professionally.

ZTL is a Norwegian B2B PayTech company building modern payment infrastructure for system providers and their customers. Through one API integration, our partners gain access to payments and open banking services — delivered in a transparent, scalable, and developer-friendly way.

We’re currently around 20 people, characterized by an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset. While we can offer some flexibility, we primarily like to work together from our office in downtown Oslo.
