Soulcake is a handmade bakery in Oslo, and every one of our cookies, cupcakes and cakes gives someone a small moment of joy. Behind that is a kitchen, a delivery team and a growing number of shops - and a people function that has to grow with them. As Senior HR Manager you lead it. You will be developing the function and running it at the same time - shaping policy, leading the most complex cases yourself and coaching managers, often in the same week. If you take pride in getting people decisions right, not just getting them closed, and you want to build and improve as Soulcake grows, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

You report to the leadership team and you lead the HR function, based at our Ensjø site in Oslo. The HR Manager reports to you. Between you, the role covers everything from contracts and payroll to complex cases, resource planning and how Soulcake holds its culture as it grows.

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning HR policy, onboarding and compliance with Norwegian employment law

• Leading complex disciplinary and grievance cases from first report to close

• Investigating formal complaints and conduct concerns, and documenting decisions so they stand up to scrutiny

• Owning the resource plan and forecasting headcount before the business needs it

• Coaching managers through live cases so they handle more themselves over time

• Holding accountability for contracts, payroll and absence administration across the business

• Keeping people standards consistent across the kitchen, the drivers and every shop

What We're Looking For

• Experience owning an HR function or a substantial standalone HR remit - the operational span as well as the strategic work

• Current working knowledge of Norwegian employment law, applied in a Norwegian workplace

• Personal experience leading formal cases up to and including dismissal, and writing the documentation that stands up to scrutiny

• Experience planning headcount and resourcing ahead of demand, not in reaction to it

• Someone who coaches managers rather than doing the work for them

• The judgement to say when something is not right, even when it is inconvenient

• The right to work in Norway

• Fluent Norwegian, written and spoken - you own employment law compliance and write documentation that has to stand up formally

It's an advantage if you have:

• Experience in multi-site retail, hospitality or food production

• Experience building or scaling an HR function

• Familiarity with a business going through a step change in headcount
