Athletic Coach
We are seeking Athletic Coiaches which will instruct and work with student athletes (from KG to grade 12) to prepare them for competition. Coaches assist athletes to develop their skills / tactics to play their best individually and / or as part of a team. They will use their understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sports to develop students' physical fitness and attributes for sport.
Required Qualifications / Experience / Checks:
- Experience in teaching / coaching of the sport being coached at schools and or clubs.
- Current and valid First Aid Training certification
- Current Concussion Course certification
- NIF Trainer Certificate (++https://trener.nif.no/about++)
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
- Recognised certification in the sport they are coaching from identified coaching courses.
- ++NFHS - Fundamentals of Coaching - Core Course++
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong organisational skills and initiative in solving problems independently.
- Fluency in English
- Genuinely enjoys working with children of all ages.
Responsibilities:
Coaching programme: Training Sessions
- Plans, organises and conducts training sessions as per the scheduled programme.
- Submit a season plan in consultation with assistant coach or other coaches (sport specific) to the athletic director as requested during the season.
- Provide individual, small group and team feedback as needed during the season.
Coaching programme: Games / Tournament / League (Events) Duties
- Attend events as indicated in the ++ISS Vikings Athletics / Sports Calendar++.
- Organise athletes / teams as needed to participate in events.
- Wear ISS Viking Coaching Uniforms to events while representing ISS Vikings.
Facilities / equipment and transport
- Ensures that the training / game venues and equipment are safe and free from unnecessary objects at the start of each training session / game.
- Ensures that the equipment is returned at the end of sessions / games to the store room or area as indicated by the athletic director.
- Ensures students are aware of and follow all transport rules.
- Assists the assistant coach and athletic director with the return of athlete uniforms at the end of the season.
General Expectations:
- Follows the guidelines of the school's protective behaviour policies and protocols, including reporting any situation that might constitute a health and/or safety hazard to students or school employees.
- Performs other duties as reasonably assigned by the athletic director or school administration related to athletics / sports activities.
- ++Shape America Sports Coaching Standards++ - ISS Athletics Department are aiming to further develop coaches within the ISS Community by helping coaches develop their knowledge and skills related to coaching. The standards used by Shape America are a strong foundation for helping coaches to develop their own philosophies and to further develop the programmes that coaches instruct in at ISS.
