Preschool Class Teacher

About the position

We are seeking a fully qualified Early Years Teacher / forskolelærer to join the staff of our international preschool.

You will be working as part of a highly motivated and collaborative team that offers a balanced curriculum promoting the acquisition of key skills and behaviours through play and inquiry based learning. We work hard to create a very special learning experience for our children by employing inspirational teachers who respect every child and believe that whatever background or prior learning the child has, they have the capacity to excel. As a member of our team, you will help us to maintain our standards of excellence and contribute to the advancement of the Preschool.

The role of the early years teacher is to:

• Ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the children in BISS Preschool
• Monitor, support, assess and evaluate children’s individual progress
• To coordinate and plan the role of the Preschool Assistants in their class
• Raise the standard of achievement within BISS Preschool’s curriculum
• Participate in the realisation of BISS Preschool's objectives
• Participate in open evenings, parent meetings and other relevant events organised by BISS Preschool
• To undertake any additional professional duties, as required

Qualifications and skills

• NOKUT approved teaching qualifications in Early Years Childhood Studies (0-6 years) / forskolelærer utdanning.
• Demonstrated skills in building a caring, nurturing and creative learning environment
• Excellent English skills, both written and oral Minimum B2)
• A collaborative and consultative approach when working in teams
• Demonstrated skills in building positive relationships with learning communities

Personal qualities

• An excellent classroom practitioner
• Passionate about inspiring the love of learning in children
• Open minded, reflective and flexible with the ability to think creatively and take risks
• Trained and/or experienced in inquiry-based early years programmes.
