About the position/tasks
The project data officer will be part of SIOS-KC and the main tasks are related to coordination, development and implementation of access to e-infrastructure (virtual access) within an EU Horizon Europe project. The project pools an international network of polar research infrastructures and their services, aiming at addressing the scientific challenges of the polar regions.
The network includes a wide array of complementary and interdisciplinary top level research infrastructures: Arctic and Antarctic research stations, research vessels and icebreakers operating at both poles, observatories, data infrastructures and ice and sediment core repositories.
Access to e-infrastructure implies working with scientific data management in a distributed environment (integration of data across data centres), rich scientific data documentation and publishing (including development of tools and web services simplifying the process) and outreach activities related to the above mentioned.
The position requires some amount of travelling in Norway and abroad.
SIOS is adhering to the FAIR guiding principles for scientific data management and stewardship and has built the SIOS Data Management System (https://sios-svalbard.org/Data) on these principles.
The position might be given other tasks in certain periods and reports to the SIOS director.
