About the roleIn this position, you will be part of developing and quality assuring materials used in the Norrøna collections. The direction for the sourcing is based on the company's main goals, seasonal focus, and product/material briefs.
Everything we do is strongly linked to our Company mission and our building blocks: Quality, Function, Design, and Sustainability. Maintaining and developing supplier relationships and Material databases, including the material-related details, are daily tasks. You will both take part in projects and lead them, as this way of working is a big part of our success factor for innovation going forward.
The role is a part of Norrøna´s Research, Development and Design Department, and reports directly to our RD&D Director.
Main responsibilities- Be part of developing materials, fabrics, and trims that meet the quality and commercial objectives
- Push continuous improvements in our material development operation
- Collect data points covering material performance, certifications, value chains, etc.
- Material and quality assurance, some of the testing will be conducted in our lab
- Populate and update our PLM systems with relevant information
- Data collecting
- Be the contact person for material field tests
- Create moodboards and maintain collection boards
- Update physical libraries
- Frequent communication with our vendors/suppliers (tier 2)
- Be a resource on material-related projects
- A commercial-driven mindset
- Passion for how materials work
- Detailed focused
- A deep interest in sustainability, both challenges and solutions
- You bring with you energy and enthusiasm
- Working methodically and organized
- Have a genuine interest in sports and outdoor activities.
- An excellent cooperation with colleagues and teams
- Relevant textile education, textile engineering, or equivalent
- Experience from the industry, preferably sports/outdoor/workwear is a plus
- Fluency in English, orally and in writing, is a requirement
