Aptoma is a SaaS company for media enterprises. Our vision is to enable journalists and editors to get their job done without ever thinking our tools get in their way. Established in 2004.
This role is based in Oslo, Gothenburg, or Stockholm.
About the RoleAptoma develops smart automation tools for leading Nordic and German media brands, helping journalists and editors focus on high-value content creation. Their technology transforms print and digital media production, optimising workflows for efficiency and control. Since daily editions generate over 50% of media revenue, ensuring smooth production is a priority.
In this role, you will work on automating web front pages, streamlining content production, and enhancing editorial tools. Your expertise will help shape the backbone of modern publishing.
What You'll Work On-
Building and maintaining Node.js applications that orchestrate headless browsers.
-
Developing backend APIs that power media automation.
-
Contributing to a React-based frontend (as needed).
-
Utilizing AWS services to optimize performance and resource allocation.
-
Creating serverless functions and Docker microservices to connect key components.
We are looking for developers who are back-end-focused but capable of full-stack work.
Key skills include:
-
Back-end development -- APIs, document-based and relational databases.
-
Front-end development -- JavaScript, HTML, CSS (you won't be designing, but you should understand how things fit together).
-
Infrastructure knowledge -- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or similar.
-
UX awareness -- Basic understanding of usability and accessibility.
Aptoma's preferred stack includes Node.js, React, JavaScript, MongoDB, MySQL, and AWS , but they value problem-solving skills over specific tech experience.
What Makes Aptoma a Great Place to Work Work Culture-
Ownership of your work -- You'll be involved from planning to deployment.
-
Flat structure -- No full-time managers; self-sufficiency is key.
-
Direct customer impact -- You'll engage with users to refine solutions.
-
Minimal meetings -- If it's not necessary, it won't happen.
-
Endless multitasking -- Focus is prioritised over context-switching.
-
Corporate bureaucracy -- Small, agile team with real decision-making power.
-
Legacy-free tech -- While modernising is a priority, some legacy PHP systems still require maintenance.
-
Challenging, meaningful work -- Build tools that shape the future of media.
-
Supportive environment -- Senior developers handle first-line support.
-
Flexible hours -- Work around core office hours.
-
Hybrid work options -- Ad hoc remote work is supported.
-
Competitive salary & pension.
-
Office perks -- Coffee, secure bike storage, and showers.
-
Team activities -- Skiing, boating, and casual gatherings.
-
A yearly company trip
