Job Description:

An Operations and Support Engineer is responsible for setting up and configuring OT/IT systems for projects, installing software, connecting and testing equipment, and ensuring system quality. They prepare electrical drawing packages, generate tag-lists and crane geometry calculations, and design custom mounting brackets. They also manage the support mailbox, handle first-line customer support, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, and serve as the primary technical contact point for clients and partners. Operations and Support Engineers work closely with other departments to integrate procedures, maintain compliance with standards. Additionally, they provide support for surveys, installations, and commissioning.

Operations - Key Responsibilities:
  • Setup system configurations for projects.
  • Install the latest Optilift software.
  • Connect all equipment and perform testing.
  • Conduct system quality checks.
  • Prepare electrical drawing packages.
  • Generate and maintain tag-lists.
  • Perform crane geometry calculations based on GA drawings.
  • Design or coordinate design of custom mounting brackets based on survey information.
  • Generate or coordinate generation of wiring diagrams according to project configurations.
  • Create cable and component tag-lists based on wiring diagrams.
  • Pick and pack equipment for projects.
  • Provide support for surveys, installations, and commissioning.
  • Document control and follow up of procedures & quality checks.
  • Perform onshore commissioning support.
  • Technical contact point for customers and partners.
  • Customer Support - Responsibilities:
  • Manage the support mailbox and take ownership of first-line support handling.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues reported by customers on software and hardware.
  • Provide clear, concise explanations and solutions to clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose enhancements to improve products and services.
  • Other tasks when time allows:
  • Enhancing processes, systems, and performance across the Operations department through development of automated solutions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of new tools or systems before full-scale rollout.
  • Ensure improvements align with regulatory and quality standards through collaboration with the Quality and Release Manager at VOCA.
  • Use tools like dashboards or reports to visualize progress.
  • Requirements:
  • Experience working with configuration and troubleshooting of OT/IT systems.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluency in English. Fluency in Norwegian is a plus.
  • Relevant education or experience.
  • Beneficial skills and competences:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Automation or a related field.
  • Practical experience may make up for lack of formal education.
  • Experience in software and hardware troubleshooting is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and practices is a plus.
  • Experience in AutoCAD for 2D wiring diagrams and crane geometry calculations is a plus.
  • Experience with Inventor for 3D bracket design and drawings is a plus.
  • Experience with first-line support coordination and ticketing systems is a plus.
