A funded 100% 3-year researcher position is available in the project group of Dr. Sigrid S. Skånland at the Department of Cancer Immunology, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital. The hospital is Scandinavia’s largest and carries out advanced patient treatment, research, and clinical trials at a competitive international level.
The research group focuses on developing precision medicine for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and related B-cell malignancies and is affiliated with the research group of Professor Kjetil Taskén.
The position is funded by a Norwegian Cancer Society research grant. The project is titled “Tailoring combination treatment of incurable hematologic malignancies” and aims to understand response and resistance mechanisms to cancer therapies in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and multiple myeloma.
The research fellow will perform analyses on disease models including cell lines, primary cells, and mouse models. Methods that will be used include flow cytometry, gene editing with CRISPR/Cas9, drug sensitivity testing, and in vivo validation of treatments.

The research project is within the fields of immunology, hematology, and cancer biology. Candidates with a background in these areas will have an advantage.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated individual that can work independently. Work tasks include:

  • Performing and analyzing multi-color flow cytometry experiments
  • Performing and analyzing drug sensitivity screens
  • Performing genetic manipulation of disease models
  • Mouse work
  • Supervision of team members

Qualification requirements

  • A PhD degree in cancer immunology or a relevant biological science
  • Fluent written and spoken English

The candidate must have prior competence and experience with at least one of the following areas:

  • Mouse models (including CAREiN license for animal experimentation)
  • Cell viability assays
  • Multi-color flow cytometry
  • Gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9)

  • Have a strong ability to work purposefully, systematically, and independently
  • Communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
