Role Overview

The Service Quality Manager at NOV is responsible for driving reliability, performance, and service quality across our drilling technology product lines, with a primary focus on wired and electronic tool systems.

Based in Norway, this role partners closely with engineering, operations, and field teams to ensure high-quality service delivery, minimize downtime, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the full service lifecycle.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will actively shape processes, lead failure investigations, and improve overall operational performance in a growing and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure service quality standards are consistently met across operations

  • Monitor and improve the reliability of wired, e-tool, and downhole systems

  • Lead failure investigations, including root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions

  • Support field teams with job planning, tool readiness, and post-job performance analysis

  • Track service quality KPIs and prepare regular performance reports

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to enhance tool performance and reduce downtime

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to failures, maintenance, and service quality processes

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and process development

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • 3--7 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, preferably within drilling technology

  • Strong understanding of drilling processes and service quality principles

  • Experience in failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements

Nice to have:
  • Hands-on experience with downhole tools, wired tools, MWD, LWD, or other electronic measurement systems

  • Experience working in service, repair, or maintenance workshop environments for drilling tools

  • Knowledge of rotary shouldered connections and inspection requirements (DS-1 / NS-1 standards)

  • Familiarity with service quality or maintenance systems (e.g., JDE, iTrax, Intelex, TAT, Jira)

  • Experience with reliability methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, or statistical analysis
