Lead our upcoming subsurface projects. In this role, you will be at the center of subsurface decision-making on the NCS - leading exploration studies, maturing prospects to drill ready status and driving execution through drilling and post-well phases. You will chair management committees, shape license strategy, and translate integrated subsurface insight into clear recommendations that guide drilling and investment decisions.
Key responsibilities-
Lead the subsurface scope across exploration studies, prospect maturation, well projects and post-well work, ensuring volumes & risk meet Decisions gate and budget decision quality.
-
Chair the Management Committee and steer license governance: plan/convene meetings, prepare materials, manage approvals and drive partner alignment under the JOA.
-
Build and present subsurface decision material for drilling projects with Drilling and HSEQ; run reviews and communicate clear recommendations to license and management.
-
Ensure NCS regulatory compliance and coordinated dialogue with NOD, ME, Havtil and MDir; support procurement and budget control for subsurface and drilling scope.
-
Plan and coordinate subsurface resources pre-spud, during operations and post-well; document results and share learning across teams.
-
MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent.
-
Around 10 years of relevant subsurface experience in E&P on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS)
-
Proven track record in operated licenses, managing integrated subsurface scopes into drilling projects.
-
Strong understanding of exploration workflows, well planning and DG/WP&B processes.
-
Broad technical grasp of integrated subsurface studies, with the judgment to challenge, synthesize and communicate across disciplines.
-
Thorough knowledge of license governance and NCS regulations (JOA, WP&B; interaction with NOD/ME/Havtil/MDir).
-
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams, influence decisions and handle multiple stakeholders.
-
Strong written and verbal English; Norwegian is an advantage.
-
Experience as MC Chair/license representative and with corporate assurance (PA/PR/AR).
-
A strong record of prospect documentation, volumes & risk and recommendations adopted in license/corporate decisions.
-
Experience with procurement, contractor follow-up and budget control in drilling projects.
-
Confident communication with NOD/ME/Havtil/MDir.
-
Comfort with time critical sequences (pre spud, operations, post-well) and tight Subsurface-Drilling-HSEQ coordination.
-
Be part of a true growth journey on the NCS - with a genuine opportunity to shape portfolio direction, mature prospects and influence well outcomes, increasingly from an operator mindset through planning, decision-making and execution.
-
High impact - work close to the decisions that matter, with strong individual influence in licenses, responsibility for execution quality, and direct exposure to senior stakeholders and HQ in Tokyo.
-
Rewarding and flexible - competitive compensation, attractive pension and insurance schemes, and flexible work arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance.
-
A modern, international workplace - Offices at Lysaker and a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment combining deep NCS experience with a global operator perspective.
