The position
University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) has a senior engineer position in the Department of Computer Science vacant.
The appointment is for a period of 6 months (10%) for a candidate equipped with knowledge, skills and the will to contribute to a health informatics project to develop a framework for designing dosing regimens for treating infection in longitudinal studies.
The position is organized under the Department of Computer Science, and it’s research group Health Data Lab (HDL).
UiT The Arctic University of Norway is the largest research and educational institution in northern Norway with about 16,000 students and 3,500 employees. The Department of Computer Science provides an active international research environment with 29 tenured faculty members, 12 adjunct professors, 9 post doctors and researchers, 7 technical/ administrative staff members and about 30 PhD students. The goal of the Department is to advance the research and teaching of computer science as a discipline, to demonstrate leadership within our areas of interest, and to contribute to society through our education, research and dissemination.

Job description
The research project
The core aim of the project is to develop a framework to design dosing regimens to treat infection in longitudinal studies.
The position being announced here relates to:
- Deploy the dose design framework in our server.
- Add the calculated populations across different compartments in the framework.
- Manage vCOMBAT webpage
The position will involve scientific development as described above, contributing to scientific articles for multidisciplinary publication avenues for dissemination of the work, collaborating with microscopists, biologists, and artificial intelligence scientists, participating in dataset and code releases, and performing popular science communication.
Qualifications
This position requires a master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science. The candidate must have experience with mathematical models such as mechanistic pharmacodynamic drug-target binding, programming proficiency in C, and Python languages, experience working with high-performance computing servers (with both CPUs and GPUs), and web application development.
Emphasis shall also be attached to the candidates motivation and personal suitability.

The remuneration for a Senior engineer position is in accordance with the State salary scale code 1181. There is a 2% deduction for contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. As a state employee, you have one of the best pension schemes availiable. For more information see: spk.no.
