About Norrøna Canvas TelemarkNorrøna Canvas Hotel stands as a distinctive retreat nestled in the heart of Southern Norway's wilderness. Featuring 15 rooms, our hotel boasts a passionate team of outdoor enthusiasts including chefs, mountain bike guides, and bartender/housekeeping staff. Our season runs from late April to early October, providing ample opportunity for adventure seekers to explore the stunning landscapes of Telemark. As a Mountain Bike Guide & Host, you'll embody the spirit of exploration and serve as a positive guide and ambassador for Canvas.
We're currently seeking one full-time and one part-time Mountain Bike Guides for the 2025 autumn season. In this role, you'll have the thrilling responsibility of working closely with our guests and team members, with unforgettable experiences in the great outdoors. Beyond leading mountain bike tours and offering guidance on the trails, your duties will extend to assisting with camp activities and maintaining our fleet of rental bikes. From serving meals to tending to general camp duties, you'll play an important role in ensuring our guests' overall comfort and satisfaction.

Main areas of responsibilities Guiding- Guiding and skill course
- Bike maintenance
- Hosting and helping around the camp
- Serving the guests and helping in the kitchen
- Share insights about local geography, flora, fauna, and cultural landmarks, enriching the experience with informative commentary and storytelling
- Offer guidance and coaching to riders of different skill levels, helping them improve their techniques, conquer obstacles, and navigate trails safely
- Lead mountain biking excursions through various trails and landscapes, showcasing the best routes, scenic spots, and challenging terrain, according to level and skills. Handle bike problems on the trail/tour
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, catering to individual preferences, and ensuring participants have a positive and enjoyable experience
- Promote responsible riding practices, educate participants about trail etiquette and conservation efforts, and encourage respect for the natural environment
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for participants, fostering camaraderie among riders and facilitating social interactions during breaks and post-ride activities
- Organize logistics such as bike rentals, ensuring smooth operations throughout the tour
- Prioritize the safety of participants by assessing trail conditions, briefing riders on safety protocols and techniques, and providing first aid if necessary
- Be prepared to handle emergencies or unexpected situations on the trail, including navigation challenges, inclement weather, or injuries, while maintaining calm and composure
- Ensure all bikes and gear are in proper working condition before each tour, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed
- The ability to effectively communicate and interact with guests and team members is essential for creating positive experiences and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Being able to handle various tasks and responsibilities, from leading mountain bike tours to assisting with camp duties, requires flexibility and the willingness to adapt to different situations.
- A focus on providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded throughout their stay.
- Collaboration and teamwork are key in this role, as you will be working closely with other guides and staff members to deliver seamless experiences for our guests.
- A genuine love for mountain biking and outdoor adventures, coupled with enthusiasm for sharing this passion with others, is essential for inspiring and engaging our guests.
- From ensuring the safety of guests on the trails to maintaining cleanliness and organization around the camp, being detail-oriented is crucial for delivering high-quality experiences.
- Maintaining a positive and upbeat demeanor, even in challenging situations, helps to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for guests and colleagues alike.
- Excellent in English is a requirement, a Scandinavian language is a plus
- Class B driving license and preferably you have your own van
- Preferably mountain bike guide certificate
- First aid experience
