About the role

Middelborg is building out a new initiative in Nordic power markets, and we are looking for an experienced trader to help shape it from day one. This is a role for someone who enjoys reading market structure, forming a view, and putting capital behind it.

You will trade actively across spot, intraday, and financial instruments, managing your own book with P&L accountability. The role sits in a small Oslo-based team with short lines to leadership, real responsibility from the outset, and the opportunity to influence how the desk evolves over time.

What you will do

  • Execute trades and manage your own book across spot, intraday, and derivatives markets, with P&L ownership from day one

  • Size positions based on fundamental analysis of hydrological balances, weather forecasts, forward curves, and related commodity drivers such as carbon, gas, and FX

  • Build and maintain models and tools that support trade idea generation, execution, and risk management

  • Contribute to the ongoing build-out of the team's technical infrastructure and automate repetitive processes

  • Work closely with leadership on strategy, risk limits, and market outlook

We expect programming to be a natural part of how you work, not a skill you are developing. You will be expected to form independent views and act on them within defined risk limits.

Who we are looking for

The right candidate will have most of the following:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in active energy trading, with direct exposure to Nord Pool spot/intraday and Nasdaq Commodities derivatives

  • Documented track record in fundamental analysis and trade idea generation, with the ability to show trading performance over time

  • Practical experience with ETRM systems for position management, P&L tracking, and risk reporting, combined with a working understanding of clearing, margining, and regulatory reporting requirements

  • Strong programming skills, with a track record of using code as a core tool in the analytical and trading workflow

  • Familiarity with fundamental data sources covering hydrology, weather, and forward curves

  • Degree in mathematics, finance, physics, or engineering. Demonstrated trading results carry more weight than the degree itself

  • Direct communicator with high standards for your own work, self-driven, and comfortable using AI as a productivity tool in day-to-day analytical work

What we offer

  • A competitive base salary combined with a performance-based bonus structure tied directly to trading results

  • Openness to discussing the right compensation structure with the right candidate

  • Close collaboration with experienced professionals across trading, analysis, and investment management

  • A flat, high-trust environment with short lines to leadership

  • The opportunity to help shape a new initiative from the ground up

  • Office in central Oslo

Practical information

This is a full-time permanent position. You will report to the CEO/Head of Trading and be based at our Oslo office in Henrik Ibsens gate 100. Applicants must have the right to work in Norway.

How to apply

All applications are handled via FINN. Please attach your CV and a short note on your background and relevant experience. Questions about the position can be directed to Mohammad Allahdadi, Head of Trading, at ma@middelborg.no. We review applications on a rolling basis and do not engage with recruitment agencies.

We look forward to hearing from you!
