About the job

We are looking for a passionate and skilled developer to help shape the next generation of tooling for embedded engineers worldwide. At Nordic Semiconductor, our low-power wireless hardware is enabled by the nRF Connect SDK and supported by powerful software tools like the nRF Connect VS Code Extension, nRF Connect for Desktop, nRFUtil CLI tools, etc. In this position your mission will be to enhance our nRF Connect for VS Code Extension to optimize developer workflows. You will work on cross‑platform PC software used by developers across Windows, Linux, and macOS, and collaborate closely with firmware, system, and frontend engineers to build high‑quality, scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate has strong TypeScript or similar programming experience, an analytical mindset, and a genuine interest in embedded technology and developer tooling. If you enjoy solving complex problems, crafting great developer experiences, and working proactively in a collaborative environment, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance development tools -- Design and implement VS Code extensions for the nRF Connect SDK, optimizing developer workflows.

• Improve development user experience -- Identifying and creating new user experiences for embedded development workflows with frontend skills.

• Build cross-platform solutions -- Develop robust PC software that runs smoothly on Windows, Linux, and macOS for embedded engineers worldwide.

• Collaborate with experts across disciplines -- Work alongside firmware, system, and frontend engineers to create high-quality embedded development experiences.

• Ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions -- Follow best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, and documentation, to deliver scalable software.

Key Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Knowledge of application development in TypeScript or similar language

• Knowledge of embedded software development is a plus

• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to debug and optimize embedded applications.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Self-driven and proactive team player who is passionate about embedded technology and developer tooling.
