We are looking for a new colleague to join our Biotechnology Downstream Development team in Xellia’s API R&D facilities in Oslo.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of purification processes for the production of life-saving antibiotics.
Xellia API R&D consists of approx. 50 employees across departments located in Oslo, Copenhagen, and Budapest. In Oslo, we have three departments in modern office and laboratory facilities. We are now seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to strengthen our Biotechnology Downstream Development department.
Your new teamBiotechnology Downstream Development is responsible for developing purification processes for new Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) as well as improving processes for existing APIs, including scale-up and technology transfer to production sites.
The department works with a wide range of purification technologies, including chromatography, filtration, crystallization/precipitation, extraction, and drying. We are currently seven employees based in Oslo, working in an international R&D environment across both functional lines and cross-functional project teams.

Your role and responsibilities-
Develop scalable and reproducible purification processes for new and existing APIs (fermentation-based and semi-synthetic)

Design, perform, and evaluate experiments in collaboration with scientists and engineers

Document results with full traceability according to internal procedures

M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Process Technology, or similar

Solid knowledge of purification technologies (chromatography, crystallization, filtration, extraction, drying)

Hands-on experience from bioprocess development/production in pharma or fine chemicals (graduates also welcome)

Practical lab skills with an analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities

Efficient, flexible, and motivated team player

Fluent in English and Norwegian/Scandinavian (written and spoken)
