About the position
At the University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science, there is a fixed-term position for doctoral research fellows in technology with specialization in ICT. The position is affiliated with the Department of ICT and is part of the integrated PhD program in technology. The place of work is Campus Grimstad, and the position starts in August 2026.
The position is connected to research in one of the fields of eHealth or academic eSports. It would also be possible to work on a topic related to both areas.
Required qualifications
The position applies to students who have completed the first year of the master's programme in Multimedia and Game Technologies. The integrated PhD programme starts with the second year of the master’s programme. The successful candidate will receive conditional admission to the PhD programme. It is required to complete the master's degree in Multimedia and Game Technologies with an average grade of B or better in the fourth semester, i.e. two years after admission to the integrated PhD programme.
For the first two years after admission to the integrated PhD programme, 50 per cent of the working time will be devoted to the completion of the master's degree and 50 per cent to the PhD project. During this period, the position is paid for the time on the PhD project. In the last two years, this is a regular PhD position with full salary.

Reference is also made to the requirements for admission to UiA's doctoral programme at the Faculty of Engineering and Science with specialisation in ICT.
Applicants must prepare a project outline, which must accompany the application. The outline should have a maximum of 2 pages including a bibliography, and should propose and discuss a research topic including possible research questions, progress plan and methods.
The position requires to be able to work in a goal-oriented, orderly, concentrated and independent manner. It is required that the candidates have a written and oral command of Norwegian in order to be able to contribute to teaching at bachelor's level. Such assignments will result in a corresponding extension of the research fellowship period. When assessing the applicants, emphasis is placed on the achieved exam results and project outline, as well as any previous development work and published work.
Relevant practice, personal suitability and collaboration skills will also be emphasized.
