Automation – Principal Engineer

Location: Stavanger

About the role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Automation Principal Engineer to contribute to offshore modification projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality automation documentation, supporting front-end loading (FEL) work, and coordinating with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure the best technical solutions.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop new documentation and drawings including cause and effect charts, system control diagrams, loop drawings, and IS loop calculations for process, fire and gas, and safety systems.
• Revise and update existing technical documentation and drawings.
• Prepare installation work packages and documentation for safety and automation systems (SAS).
• Participate in studies and front-end loading (FEL) phases of projects.
• Perform discipline checks and approvals of technical documentation.
• Order instrument materials, and interpret P&IDs and multidisciplinary drawings.
• Participate in technical discussions with clients and vendors to optimize solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation engineering.
• 7+ years of experience with offshore-related projects, particularly modifications in operation.
• Strong understanding of safety and automation systems (SAS). Experience with Kongsberg SAS preferred.
• Knowledge of offshore standards including NPD, ATEX, IEC 61892, and NORSOK.
• Broad experience with platform control systems, utility systems, and fire and gas and safety systems.
• Solid understanding of instrumentation and electrical equipment used in oil and gas.

Certifications:

• Basic EX course (6–8 hours online or 22.5 hours in class).
