Senior Staff Engineer – Web Platform - Oslo

Location: Oslo, Norway
Work arrangement: Onsite, five days per week
Contract: 12 months, with the possibility of extension
Start: Immediately or as soon as possible

Sperton Norway is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for a client in the banking sector.

You will help build and improve a shared web platform used by different engineering teams. The role covers frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools.

What you will do

• Build and improve shared web-platform services.

• Design scalable APIs, databases, caches, queues, and cloud solutions.

• Create reusable tools and libraries for other engineering teams.

• Improve CI/CD, automation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

• Work with engineers and architects on technical solutions.

• Take ownership from technical design to production.

• Support and mentor other engineers.

What we are looking for

• Several years of experience as a Software Engineer or Platform Engineer.

• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

• Experience building and running large production systems.

• Good knowledge of APIs, authentication, caching, performance, debugging, and observability.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Experience building shared platforms, developer tools, or libraries.

• Good written and spoken English.

• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Microfrontends and distributed frontend architecture.

• Server-side rendering and React Server Components.

• Vite, Webpack, esbuild, or similar tools.

• Terraform, serverless, or event-driven architecture.

• Multi-brand or multi-tenant applications.

• Norwegian language skills.

• Comfortable using AI tools while maintaining strong technical understanding.
