Design, test, and optimize software for our proprietary subsea sensor platform.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced software developer to join our Subsea Integrity Monitoring (SIM) team in Kristiansand. The SIM team is a multidisciplinary unit responsible for managing the sensor product portfolio, encompassing all stages from research and development to production.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for embedded software development. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our hardware team to design, test, and optimize software for our proprietary subsea sensor platform. This platform is globally recognized for its unique combination of ultra-low power consumption and advanced sensing capabilities, tailored for demanding subsea applications, both in autonomous battery operated and cabled systems. You will also work alongside a dedicated team of algorithm specialists who develop sophisticated filters and data processing algorithms, which are integrated into both the sensors and higher-level systems.

This position requires a deep understanding of embedded systems, proficiency in the C programming language, and practical experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).

Key Responsibilities

Software Development and Quality Assurance

• Develop efficient, reusable embedded software that integrates sensor interfaces, communication modules and data processing algorithms.

• Maintain and enhance the testing framework for unit, functional, and release-level testing

Hardware and Production Support

• Assist the hardware team in developing low-level software for new hardware designs

• Collaborate with hardware and production teams to create tools for production testing and sensor calibration

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with domain experts at 4Subsea to integrate algorithms and filters that improve sensor data quality

• Contribute to the SIM product roadmap in collaboration with internal business units

Required Qualifications

• Higher education in computer science, electronics, cybernetics, or related fields (relevant experience may compensate)

• Experience with embedded system programming

• Extensive experience in programming, primarily in C, with additional proficiency in Python, PHP, or similar languages

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with one or more RTOS platforms, such as FreeRTOS

• Practical experience with computer networks and Linux-based systems

• Familiarity with standard communication protocols and interfaces, including UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, and TCP/IP

• Experience with test-driven development and unit testing frameworks

• Fundamental understanding of hardware and electronics
