Are you ready to build hardware that defines the future of human space exploration?
At Nåva Space, we design and build space suits and systems that enhance human capabilities. We do this by integrating advanced mechanical systems, smart materials, and AI to keep astronauts safe and effective in the harshest environments.
The same technologies built for space apply on Earth. Our systems translate directly into defense and safety-critical industries, where failure is not an option.
As a Space Suit Engineer at Nåva Space, you will influence the earliest design decisions that shape our system architecture and ensure that mechanical development stays true to our mission. You’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge space programs and real-world deployments, collaborating with space agencies, the defense and safety-critical industries, and research institutions.
Key Responsibilities:-
Subsystems for EVA suits and life-critical hardware, from design throughout production
-
Apply human-centered design principles for extreme environments (space, defense, safety)
-
Perform structural and thermal analysis for development, testing, and certification
-
Ensure compliance with space and defense standards (ECSS, NASA, defense certifications)
-
Collaborate across disciplines, including electronics, software, and smart materials, to integrate hardware interfaces
-
BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
-
Experience with CAD, FEA, CFD, pressurised systems, prototyping, and testing
-
Strong understanding of human factors, ergonomics, or safety-critical design
-
Passion for space, defense, and/or dual-use technology
-
Structured, solution-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-moving innovation environment
-
Experience from space, defense, or safety-critical industries is a plus, but not required
-
Strong communication and documentation skills in English
-
Self-driven and proactive
-
Analytical and critical thinker with a solution-oriented mindset
-
Passionate about R&D, technology, and innovation
-
Great sense of humor and curiosity
At Nåva Space, you’ll join a focused team with a clear mission: enhancing human capabilities. We are deliberately small, which means your work directly shapes the company and the capabilities we deliver.
You’ll work side by side with designers, engineers, developers, and partners across space, defense, and safety-critical industries. We have nine people in the office today, and we are expanding rapidly. Around us is a strong network of agencies, research groups, and industry partners who test, challenge, and strengthen what we build.
To Sum Up, You’ll Get:-
A role-shaping hardware that expands human capability in space and on Earth
-
Direct impact on systems where reliability and performance cannot fail
-
High autonomy in a focused team
-
Access to a broad professional network across space, defense, and safety industries
-
Offices at Torshov, central Oslo
-
Retirement and health insurance
We will evaluate applications continuously
Om bedriften
Nåva Space is a Norwegian deep-tech company founded in 2023. We build space suits and systems for human operations in extreme environments. Our platform integrates advanced mechanics, smart materials, and AI-driven monitoring to keep people healthy and effective - whether in microgravity, on the Moon, or here on Earth.
We move faster than the legacy space industry: short decision cycles, clear priorities, and hardware that is built, tested, and deployed. Our systems are engineered for missions where reliability and performance cannot fail.
What we build for space translates directly into defense and safety-critical industries on Earth, where robustness and zero margin for error are just as critical.
