At the very edge of Isfjorden, 100 km from civilization in Longyearbyen, lies Isfjord Radio, our exclusive outpost in the Arctic.
As part of an adventurous high-end travel concept, we welcome guests seeking rare and unforgettable experiences in the raw wilderness. Here, remoteness, comfort, and culinary excellence come together. Guests arrive by boat, snowmobile, or dog sled -- traveling from all over the world to reach this remarkable place.
Since 2008, the former radio station (built in 1933) has been operated as a wilderness hotel, where food is at the very heart of the experience. Our kitchen works closely with local trappers who supply Svalbard reindeer, grouse, seal, and fish. All ingredients are processed and preserved on-site by our chefs. Dining at Isfjord Radio is more than a meal -- it is storytelling, nature, and cultural heritage served after adventurous days in the Arctic.
Your RoleAs Head Chef at Isfjord Radio, you will:
- Lead the kitchen and craft creative menus that surprise and delight guests.
- Ensure world-class dining experiences that reflect Arctic culture and ingredients.
- Oversee logistics, planning, and preservation of raw materials.
- Manage and inspire a small, close-knit kitchen team and collaborate across the station.
- Work with local trappers and suppliers in a sustainable, respectful way.
- Report directly to the Station Manager.
You are an engaged, solution-oriented, and resilient leader with a passion for food and adventure. Ideally, you bring:
- Proven experience as Head Chef or in a senior kitchen role.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent planning and logistics abilities -- essential in a remote location.
- Creativity and innovation, with the ability to thrive with limited resources.
- An adventurous mindset and appreciation for nature, culture, and life in isolated places.
- Willingness to take on tasks that go beyond the core job description.
- Valid Class B driving license.
- Ability and willingness to carry a firearm as part of safety duties. Training will be provided. Employment is subject to background checks and compliance with Norwegian firearms legislation and safety procedures.
- A unique workplace at the edge of the Arctic wilderness.
- Challenging, varied responsibilities with plenty of creative freedom.
- A dedicated, experienced, and adventurous team.
- Seasonal operation: February--October.
Does this sound like your dream role? Apply today and seize the opportunity to lead one of the most unique kitchens in the world of Arctic high-end travel.
