Engineering Manager

About the Role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to build high-performing engineering teams through strong leadership and coaching, making sure engineers have the support and environment to do their best work.

Engineering at Elliptic Labs spans embedded development, ML, signal processing, and software. Staff Engineers drive technical direction, and Product Owners own execution, as EM, you bring the people leadership that ties it together.

You'll manage engineers across several product teams, report to the CTO, and help shape products used by millions worldwide.

What You’ll Own

• People management: hiring, onboarding, coaching, 1:1s, performance reviews, career development.

• Team health: building good ways of working and removing blockers.

• Capacity planning: tracking skills and gaps, driving hiring decisions.

• Partnership with Staff Engineers and Product Owners on priorities and trade-offs.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience managing engineers in a software organization.

• Technical background is a plus, not required.

• A track record of building strong teams and developing people at all levels.

• Clear, direct communicator who builds trust.

• Comfortable spotting risks and dependencies across teams.

What Success Looks Like

• Engineers feel supported with clear expectations and growth paths.

• Operating a performance review process that delivers real value.

• Capacity, gaps, and hiring needs are visible to all.

• Blockers surface early, so teams can commit realistically.
