Technical Data Specialist – Geospatial

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Data Specialist with a focus on Geospatial and Subsea data to join our team in Stavanger.
 

In this role, you will be responsible for managing, structuring, and ensuring the quality of large volumes of geospatial and multimedia data, including videos, images, and acoustic data, supporting subsea integrity and maintenance operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data engineering, digital solutions, and subsea operations, contributing to data-driven decision-making in one of the most technically advanced areas of the energy industry.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, organize, and catalogue large volumes of multimedia and geospatial data (videos, images, acoustic data).
• Develop and run quality control scripts to validate and manage data integrity.
• Manage and maintain data in maintenance and integrity systems.
• Collaborate closely with contractors and the subsea team to improve data workflows and quality.
• Support subsea engineers in data gathering and transfer activities.
• Establish and operate a video management system with governance and retention guidelines.
• Manage data transfers to and from suppliers and contractors.
• Perform data quality control using scripting and analysis tools (Python).
• Administer access control for cloud storage environments (e.g., Azure Blobs).
• Load data into visualization and integrity systems.
• Establish service accounts and manage data storage and software systems.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in data engineering, digital data management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in data management, preferably within the energy/subsea domain.
• Strong experience with Python and scripting for automation and quality control.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving to technical challenges.
• Experience implementing and executing digital change initiatives.
• Previous oil and gas industry experience is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills (fluency) in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken.
