About the position

Position as Researcher available at  a researcher in high-throughput translatomics is available in the Valen group at the Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo

The starting date no later than February 1st 2026 and the contract period is 3 years.

Job description

The project consists of developing computational methods for processing, visualising and analysing data from the high-throughput sequencing technique ribosome profiling. The candidate should be familiar with software related to this topic and have experience with development of related tools. The project aims at detecting, characterising, and exploring translational regulation through massive data aggregation of ribosome profiling libraries. The researcher will explore regulation across tissues, conditions and cellular states while account for technical and experimental biases. The researcher needs to be familiar with methods for clustering, visualising and modeling data and have a solid understanding of omics methods and ribosome profiling in particular. It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to complete the project in the course of the period of employment. The candidate will be based in the group of Eivind Valen at the University of Oslo, Department of Biosciences.

• Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian MSc degree in computational biology and/or biotechnology or related fields
• Programming experience in R or python
• Experience with processing and analysis of ribosome profiling data
• Experience with development of methods for high-throughput data analysis
• Solid knowledge on the topic of translational regulation
• Good oral and written English communication skills

• Experience with visualisation of omics data
• Experience with micropeptide prediction
