We are looking for you who have a broad ship machinery background and are somehow familiar with ship classification, and who wants to join us in one of Norway’s most attractive workplaces for engineers here at beautiful Høvik. Maybe you have been sailing on commercial ships and want to come ashore?
Your new team will consist of nearly 20 highly skilled engineers from diverse cultures and generations, all working in the Machinery and Marpol section. Together, we cover exactly these two core topics for DNV. In a bigger picture, we are part of DNV Maritime -Ship classification - Technical Support counting about 200 experts working in related fields
In our daily work our section provides technical expertise within our disciplines to DNV’s fleet in service stakeholders - both internal and external. Typical tasks include damage and repair evaluations, rule interpretations, and the development of new services aligned with the DNV strategy.
As our first priority, you will be trained to deliver our services to our customers through on-the-job training. As your experience grows, you will be contributing to developing and improving classification rule requirements, instructions and procedures and the existing services and tools.
You will participate in our formalized technical help desk duty service, using your competence to respond to questions from internal and external customers.
Typical tasks will be:-
**Deliver our core services:**Through our digital tools, deliver our core services as remote surveys and DATE (direct access to technical experts) to ensure fleet-wide compliance for ship managers with regards to ship machinery and classification.

Share knowledge: Provide valuable insights to the DNV organization and customers regarding machinery maintenance, through meetings and presentations - both internally and externally.

Develop rules: Participate in the development of relevant rules and other service documents.

Foster community: Be an active member of our social committee to help maintain a positive working environment.

Broad ship machinery experience.

In-field experience such as surveyor, chief engineer, superintendent, fleet manager, or class surveyor is equally valuable as holding a higher university degree.

Some knowledge of ship classification, rules and class systematics.

Fluent language skills in English, and preferably Norwegian.

You have an established connection to Norway and Norwegian culture.

You are social, a team player, and enjoy collaborating and communicating with both colleagues and customers in face-to-face situations in an office environment.

You are well organized and enjoy managing smaller projects.
