About the Position

The Embassy of Belgium in Oslo is seeking to recruit a proactive and detail‑oriented Attaché working predominantly on political and economic files. The position requires a high degree of integrity, initiative and a hands-on approach. • Draft analytical reports and summaries in French or Dutch.

  • Participate in and help organise official activities of the diplomatic post, including meetings, conferences, seminars, and receptions.

  • Develop and maintain a professional network on behalf of the Embassy by attending events, conferences and symposia organised by third parties.

  • Contribute to the promotion of strong bilateral relations and cooperation with the receiving States and relevant international organisations; assess and report on the perception of Belgium within these circles.

  • Develop and support the Embassy's social media activities to promote its priorities and amplify its public profile.

  • Maintain and update internal reference tools, including country or thematic reports, instructions, information on local legislation, contact lists and other relevant databases.

  • Provide back‑up support in consular matters, if required.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Education: A Master's degree or equivalent (five‑year university degree) in international relations, law, economics, political science, or a closely related field.

  • Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, and at least one of the following languages: French or Dutch, which are used for internal reporting. Knowledge of Norwegian is considered a strong asset.

  • Professional experience: At least 1 year of work experience in a governmental organisation, an international organisation, an NGO, a university or research institution, a media organisation, a think tank, a foundation, a diplomatic mission, a development agency, a civil society organisation, a policy or advocacy organisation, or a similar organisation with activities in public affairs, communications, research, international cooperation, or diplomacy.

  • Core competencies:

    • Ability to work under time pressure and meet strict deadlines;

    • Strong analytical, drafting and reporting skills;

    • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the capacity to represent Belgium professionally;

    • Advanced knowledge of European or international affairs.

    • A good knowledge of Norwegian politics or economics is a strong asset.

    • Expertise in energy and/or climate policy is considered a strong asset.

    • Sound political judgement and discretion.

Application process

Conditions of Employment:

  • Legal status: Applicants must be eligible to live and work in Norway at the time of application.
    • Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide proof a local Norwegian address so that if selected, it will appear on the contract offered.

    • Proof of educational qualifications and prior experience will be required at or after the interview stage of the process.

    Application/recruitment process: please submit your application by email to oslo.jobs@diplobel.fed.be. Your application should include a concise motivation letter and CV (two separate PDF documents) in either Dutch or French and should be submitted by 23:59 on 6 September 2026 at the latest.
