As Senior Research Engineer, Digital Solutions, you will be part of a team of eager individuals in research and innovation activities, developing advanced digital simulation twins and models of VARD's ships. The activities mainly fall within two of our strategic areas: Zero-emission and Digitalization. You will be combining operational ship data with development of simulation models to maximize ship operability and optimize energy efficiency. The work involves collaboration with many entities within Vard Group, and we are looking for a strong personal interest in digital and maritime and a drive towards a greener and digital future.

Duties and responsibilities
- Developing and utilizing simulation twins for VARD’s ships, or for systems inside the ships, as part of setting up digital twins
- Treating, analyzing and visualizing ship operational data
- Combining ship operational data with simulation models for validation
- Supporting our concept, hydro and stability departments in the design process based on the simulation models and the ship operational data
- Collaborating with our external research partners and our customers as well as other VARD departments and companies
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and interest in working with system simulations and ship data.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in working with data and/or simulation models. However, strong interest and eagerness may compensate for experience
- Master-level education within Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Cybernetics or Data Science. However, bachelor-levels may also apply combined with relevant experience
- Experience with coding
- Experience with Siemens Amesim or equivalent multi-physics simulation tools, as well as SINTEF software, is advantageous, but not critical. Training will be provided as and if needed
- Good knowledge of English, oral and written
- Good cultural understanding
