A central element of our core network is our IP/MPLS network, which connects network elements across our various data centers and forms the interface toward our customers and partners/providers of peering, IP Transit, and IPX/GRX.

About the role

As an IP Network Engineer, you will develop and operate a modern network based on IP/MPLS/OSPF/BGP protocols.

We are seeking someone with the competence and commitment to ensure a scalable and flexible IP network with high uptime.

The role also involves providing technical customer support and guidance for IPsec and Firewall implementations, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for our clients, and implementing automation practices around these technologies - this is an important but smaller part of the role. Communication with customer is mainly in Norwegian.

We will consider both senior candidates with extensive experience and juniors with shorter experience, and can adapt tasks and responsibilities in line with the candidate's profile.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Operations & Reliability: Maintain and optimize IP/MPLS core routers, switches, and edge firewalls to ensure high uptime and performance in a secure environment.

• Customer Interconnects: Implement, configure, and support robust IPsec VPN and firewall solutions tailored to customer connectivity requirements.

• Security & Compliance: Ensure network infrastructure aligns with NIS2 regulations, CIS Controls (CIS-18), and ISO 27001:2022 standards across both data center and transport environments.

• Cloud & Virtualization Support: Support the business with network-related tasks and integrations within OpenStack and Kubernetes environments.

• Network Automation: Script and automate routine operational tasks, with a focus on streamlining IPsec VPN deployments, policy updates, and firewall rule provisioning.

Essential qualifications

• Experience in designing, operating, or troubleshooting IP networks using BGP, OSPF, and MPLS - preferably from an ISP, MNO/MVNO, or similar consultancy.

• Practical experience with Firewalls, NAT, and IPsec VPNs.

• Hands-on familiarity or strong interest in Network Automation (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform, or REST APIs) to automate manual network changes.

• Familiarity with networking equipment vendors (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper).

Preferred & Bonus Qualifications

• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP (or equivalent practical experience).

• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as CIS Controls (CIS-18), NIS2, ISO 27001:2022.

• Understanding of Zero Trust (ZTNA) concepts or SASE architectures.

• Basic understanding of mobile network interfaces (e.g., Gi/N6 interfaces, GPRS/3G/4G/5G transport protocols) is a plus.
