We are looking for an Engineer - Energy Control Systems to develop software for advanced marine power and control systems.
You will work primarily with PLC software development in CODESYS and TwinCAT, together with HMI/GUI development and testing. Our software is used across SeaQ solutions including Energy Storage Systems, Drives, Power Management Systems, Advanced Protection Systems and Low and Medium Voltage shore connections.
The role combines software engineering with real-world control systems. You will have the opportunity to follow your solutions from software design and implementation through simulation, FAT and commissioning.
We are continuously developing our software platform and engineering methods, with increasing focus on modular software architecture, reusable components, version control, simulation and efficient testing. You will have the opportunity to influence how these solutions develop.
Duties and responsibilities

- Design and implement reusable and modular software functions, control sequences, interlocks, alarms and system interfaces
- Contribute to software architecture and development of new functionality through R&D and product development
- Integrate PLC software with Drives, Energy Storage Systems, switchboards, protection systems and other vessel systems
- Perform software and system testing, including simulation, internal acceptance testing (IAT) and factory acceptance testing (FAT)
- Troubleshoot software and system behaviour during integration, testing and commissioning
- Support project deliveries from specification and engineering through installation and commissioning
- Handle technical clarifications with customers, suppliers and classification societies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of our software development, version control, testing and release processes
Qualifications
- Higher education within automation, control systems, electrical engineering, software engineering or a related field. Relevant experience may compensate for formal education

- Experience with Structured Text (ST) is particularly relevant
- Experience with HMI/GUI development for industrial or automation systems
- Understanding of industrial control systems, communication and system integration
- Experience with Git or other version-control systems is an advantage
- Experience with drives, power management, Energy Storage Systems or marine automation is an advantage
- Experience with software testing, simulation or automated testing is beneficial
- Good written and spoken English
This employment may require a background check, or security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority.
Personal qualities
- You enjoy solving complex technical problems in a structured and systematic way
- You care about software quality, readability and maintainability
- You are curious and enjoy understanding how software, electrical systems and physical equipment interact
