About the position
The Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo invites applicants for up to 2-3 Doctoral Fellowships. The PhD-positions will be connected with one of the faculty's present research groups (https://www.tf.uio.no/english/research/groups/) or research fields. Applicants are required to develop a PhD-project thematically relevant to the ongoing research at the faculty.
More about the position
The appointment is for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. All Ph.D. Research Fellows who submit their doctoral dissertation for assessment within 3 years after employment will be offered a 12-month Completion Grant. It will involve other career-promoting work consisting of pedagogical training, teaching, supervision, and research. This will depend on the candidate's qualifications and the needs of the faculty.
Candidates will join and take an active part in and contribute to the work of the faculty’s research group(s) relevant to their field of study. Read more about the doctoral degree here. A research stay abroad for up to six months during the employment period is strongly encouraged.
Permanent residence in Oslo or within commuting distance from Oslo is expected during the appointment. Place of work is the Faculty of Theology at Blindern, Oslo.
Qualifications
Qualification requirements- To be admitted to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Theology, an applicant must have a five-year master's degree (incl. 3 years BA + 2 years MA) or equivalent in theology/religious studies, or in other relevant fields. The master’s degree must have been obtained by the application deadline.
- Good written and oral proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
- Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
In the assessment of the applicants, emphasis will be placed on the following criteria:
- The quality of the project description.
- Academic and personal ability to complete the project within the given timeframe.
- Ability to cooperate with others and willingness to participate in interdisciplinary education and cooperation.
