OptoScale is transforming aquaculture with AI-driven computer vision and embedded technology. Our Bioscope is an advanced underwater camera system that captures real-time data from thousands of fish daily, helping farmers make data-driven decisions to improve sustainability and efficiency.

To support our rapid growth, we’re expanding our Electronics Team and looking for a talented engineer to help develop, optimize, and secure the embedded systems and networks powering our devices.

About the team

The Electronics team at OptoScale develops and maintains the electronics of the physical devices that power our solutions, including Bioscope cameras and smart winches. These devices integrate a range of embedded hardware running software and firmware on platforms from Ubuntu to FreeRTOS. Some hardware components are sourced externally, while others are designed in-house. Deployed worldwide across diverse network environments, the team ensures seamless operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of the hardware ecosystem.

About the role

As part of the Electronics Team, you will develop and maintain embedded Linux services and networking solutions for our hardware. These devices operate in mobile networks (4G, Starlink, wired) and customer-closed systems, requiring robust security, automation, and remote debugging.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions, while continuously improving observability, security, and software deployment on edge devices.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a problem-solving mindset and a strong background in embedded systems and networking. You should have:

• Expertise in Embedded Linux (Ubuntu, Yocto) -- This is the core of the role.
• Experience with networking -- Knowledge of VPN, firewalls, and security is required.
• Troubleshooting and debugging skills for deployed embedded systems.
• A structured and analytical approach, with the ability to work independently and in teams.

Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, Ansible, or NVIDIA Jetson is also beneficial. More than anything, we’re looking for someone who can build scalable and secure embedded systems while collaborating with colleagues.
