Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Division of research, internationalisation and innovation, has one available position as Senior Research Adviser
About the positionWe are looking for a senior research adviser with extensive experience and network within the European research and innovation landscape. The senior adviser will work primarily with external funding to increase quality and volume of externally funded research projects at HVL. The main task will be support for external funding, primarily with project development in the pre-award phase. Projects are developed in collaboration with researchers, research advisers, financial advisers, and other relevant support staff such as librarians, media and communication advisers. EU and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) are the main funding sources, but applications towards other funders/sources are also supported. The research adviser is expected to contribute to the optimal collective performance of HVL’s research adviser team.
Place of work is one of HVL's five campuses.
Key duties- and responsibilities:
The main focus will be on increasing HVL’s impact and competitiveness in external research and innovation funding:
- Hands-on support for developing competitive external research and innovation funding applications
- Provide training in developing applications for external funding
- Follow the development of EU framework programmes, with a specific focus on analysing calls for proposals
- Provide strategic advice to leaders, research groups and administrative staff on matters related to EU and national research and innovation funding policies and opportunities
- Participate in the development and streamlining of administrative routines for research support (including digitalisation of procedures).
- Contribute to the optimal collective performance of HVLs research adviser team
- Contribute to strengthening collaboration between the research communities at HVL and other regional, national, and international actors.
- The position may involve other tasks as required
Qualifications:
Required qualifications- A master’s degree or equivalent (formal degree)
- Relevant experience from externally funded research and innovation applications and/or projects
- Strong understanding of the university sector or other R&D-focused institutions
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with willingness to learn Norwegian up to level B2
- Solid digital competency
Desired skills and expertise
- A track record of successful and relevant experience with EUs program for research and innovation
- Considerable experience in European research and innovation policy and strategy work, in a specific domain (healthcare, energy, sustainability, education, etc.) or on a more general level
- In-depth knowledge within areas such as open science, dissemination and exploitation, data protection, research data management, research ethics, intellectual property rights (IPR), commercialization, as well as stakeholder and user involvement in projects

- Effective time management abilities with respect to deadlines
- A proactive, analytical and goal-oriented mindset

The position as senior research advisor is paid according to the Government's salary regulation, in position code senior advisor 1364.
