Activity and rental center employee: part time work for outdoors enthusiasts

We look for outdoor enthusiasts for part-time work (within flexible time frames, around the weekends or every second weekend, 1, 2 or 3 days a week) with start 28th of November and end 30th of April.

About work

We can keep you stimulated: work offers various tasks related to direct customer service - renting out sport equipment, taking care of the equipment, bookings of activities, tourist information, maintenance of the site.

Main operations are focused on renting equipment out, advising our guests on local destinations for their activities, instructing guests on how to use the equipment and where to go to make the best of their holidays, sale of activities and merchandise in our shop, preparing reservations, keeping order and cleaning (inside and outside of the shop) and winter clothes /skis /splitboards and other equipment maintenance.

Who is this work for

We welcome students, also high school students, people who would like to try their skills in new area, and all outdoor passionate individuals who would like to have challenging and fun weekend work.

We look for people who have a passion for outdoor activities and work with people in the first place. We work in a team and need people with various skills - from great knowledge of ski touring and splitboarding gear to social personalities happy to answer our visitors questions for a few hours every day.

We look for both: people who spend each evening outdoors and can always say how the conditions in the mountains are right now and people who like to work inside and are not necessarily active, but know Tromsø area and like to answer questions and help with planing adventures for the others.

However if you never worked with customer service and have no knowledge of winter activities, equipment, or Tromsø, this will not work for you. We have a lot of focus on service quality, all our employees need to enjoy working with people and have good communication skills, be ready to improvise and assist others.

Position Requirements:

• Interest and personal experience in outdoor activities

• Teamwork, organization and control skills, attachment to the details, and good memory are essential for this work.

• We will prioritize candidates with good knowledge of the Tromsø area, winter equipment, outdoor activities and local experience, but if you are keen to educate yourself prior to work start we are looking forward to receiving your application.

• Good English is written and spoken proficiency is necessary. Norwegian, German, French, or Spanish will be an advantage but is not required.

• Enjoying and used to working in a flexible international environment.

• Creative and solution-oriented, positive attitude to work, colleagues, and customers.

  
  

We are interested to know your knowledge/experience in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring, sales, sports equipment, customer service and other relevant experience.

We provide extensive training but cannot teach you "everything" so tell us what your strong points are, why you think you will fit our team.

Working Scheme

For the part-time position: we need the most help during weekends and on some occasions in the morning 9.30-11 or afternoons 15-17.30.

We have good experience in making it easy to combine work with us with studies or other part-time work, especially for students who look for weekend work.

Tromsø Outdoor AS has other open positions for the coming winter, we look for

• Outdoor activity guides (xc ski and snowshoe activities) for German speaking candidates

• driver with D1 or D driving licence and valid YSK.
