To support the operation of the Morrow Cell Factory and to set the HSE standards and procedures for Morrow’s Li-Ion battery cell production, we are seeking a committed and talented HSE Engineer who is passionate about the safe operation of our Li-Ion battery production facility.

Key responsibilities:
Overall
- Collaborate and support all employees to develop, review, and update health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Facilitate the implementation of strategies to promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization
- Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential workplace hazards and environmental risks
- Support the development and delivery of comprehensive safety training programs for employees, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices
Permits and reporting
- Follow up and report on relevant Norwegian and international HSE laws and regulations:
- Emission permits granted by the Norwegian Environment Agency (”Miljøverndirektoratet”)
- Accident regulations (“Storulykkeforskriften”), Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (“DSB”)
Internal Control
- Establish internal control and follow up on regulations relating to systematic health, environment and safety activities in enterprises (Internal Control Regulations) e.g., according to Labour Inspection Authority (“Arbeidstilsynet”)
Industrial safety
- Establish and develop the industrial safety organization to act as first-line of response to protect lives and health
- Algin with local emergency services (e.g., fire, ambulance and police)
- Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines
Risk assessment to identify potential incidents
- Organize, equip and train industrial safety team e.g., according to Norwegian Industrial Safety Organisation’s (NSO)
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, SJA/risk assessments and control measures to ensure safe product handling and a safe working environment
Handling of chemicals
- Administer EcoOnline (or other similar platform) for chemical safety (risk assessment, MSDS, etc.)
- Assist in maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and permits, including the preparation of necessary documentation and records
- Provide expertise in environmental compliance activities, including air emissions, wastewater management, waste disposal, and pollution prevention
HSE training and deviations
- Follow up proper HSE training of all employees (handling of chemicals, handling of process equipment and utilities)
- Establish reporting system and handling of deviations
- Provide expertise in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents and near misses
HSE procedures and emergency plans
- Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans and procedures, including conducting drills and exercises to test their effectiveness
- Provide guidance and assistance during emergency situations, ensuring the safety of personnel and the environment
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalent
- At least 5+ years of experience managing HSE initiatives in complex manufacturing organizations with a successful track record in delivering on these HSE initiatives
- Proficiency with the standard Norwegian health, safety and environment regulations for chemical and process industries
- Experience in implementation, maintaining and auditing of the OSHA45001 and ISO14001 Management System
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Specific Skills / Personal Qualifications:
- Proficiency with the standard Norwegian health, safety and environment regulations for chemical and process industries
- Familiarity with behavioral based safety systems, risk analysis / safe job analysis methods and emergency response procedures
- Strong quality and safety mindset and awareness
- Motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills and process orientated approach
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and ability to flourish in a dynamic startup environment
- Experience and capability to work in a clean room production environment and low moisture dry room environment (<1.0% relative humidity)
- Excellent communication skills
- It is absolutely essential to be able to write, speak, and read Norwegian and English fluently
