Jotun has achieved a leading position internationally in the decorative paint market by developing high performing premium paints. The product development is done by Regional R&D Centers across the world. We in the Decorative R&D Technology Group are supporting the Regional R&D Centers and are now looking to strengthen our team.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated scientist who will help develop technical insights and understanding of paint performance. You will play a crucial role in developing technology platforms, work methodologies and test methods supporting the development of new and innovative products globally. The Decorative R&D Technology Group is focused on raising the competence level and facilitating information sharing between the laboratories, through building a network and delivering insights and learnings to the Regional R&D Centers.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out research activities through planning, formulating, testing and evaluating paint formulations and raw materials
- Participate actively in setting up R&D projects and tasks relevant for all Decorative Regional R&D centers
- Contribute professionally both internally and externally to increase the competence of the department and for Jotun Decorative R&D as a whole
- Report results from research and development work both orally and in writing, presenting results, findings and insights in a clear and convincing way
- Search for, make use of and communicate knowledge found through literature, courses, practical experience and by learning from others
- Knowledge and use of necessary safety equipment in a laboratory environment
- Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the workspace is tidy, safe, and pleasant
What We Look For And What We Offer
Qualifications:
- Master with minimum 4 years’ relevant experience OR Bachelor with a minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience OR PhD with minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in Material Sciences or other relevant scientific area and at least 3-5 years of work experience
- Background in or experience with statistics, design of experiments and data analysis is an advantage
- Work experience in chemical research and development is a benefit
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation is a benefit
- Proficiency in verbal and written English
