The Embassy of Ireland, Norway, seeks to recruit an Executive Support and Policy Officer for a full-time position commencing September 2021.
The successful applicant will undertake a varied role that includes providing executive support to the Head of Mission; engaging in policy and translation work on key issues of interest to the Embassy; supporting visits from Irish Ministers and officials, contributing to organising Embassy events, and providing administrative support to the mission on consular, financial and other matters.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties and responsibilities of this varied role include but are not limited to:
· Providing executive support to the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission (managing schedules, official correspondence and acting as personal assistant to the Head of Mission)
· Policy and translation work (researching Norwegian foreign and domestic policy of interest to the Embassy and State Agencies; translating spoken and written Norwegian to English at a fluent level; attending briefings and meetings with key contacts; supporting specific project)
· Visit and event support (e.g. event organisation; scheduling meetings, transport; interacting with venues and support services, including procurement of same; represent the Embassy at outside meetings and events, report writing as required )
· Support the Deputy Head of Mission in delivery of consular (e.g. visa processing), financial and administrative services when required.

Essential requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:· A high level of fluency in Norwegian and English (written and spoken). The candidate should be a native speaker of Norwegian or English and have a minimum C1 level in the other language; Applicants may be telephoned in advance to establish language proficiency and a short written language test may be required;
· Ability to organise time, work independently, coordinate and prioritise multiple tasks to ensure that deadlines are met;
· Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills;
· Excellent analytical skills;
· Record of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- Well-developed networking and interpersonal skills, including a flexible attitude, good judgement and the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications: and
- The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in Norway prior to recruitment.
Terms and conditions of employment:
- The successful candidates will be hired on a fixed-term contractual basis and will be based at the Embassy of Ireland, Norway.
- The salary for the position is 457,818 NOK per annum, paid monthly. Salaries are paid direct to a bank account, therefore the successful candidate must have a bank account.
- The positions will have an annual leave allowance of 25 days per annum, exclusive of public holidays, adjusted pro rata.

- It is planned that interviews will be held at the Embassy in early August 2021 (arrangements can be made for interview by video-conference if required).
