The Team
Silicon Labs Norway seeks a HW Tools Operations Engineer for the Hardware Tools team. You will be responsible for managing operations/production of our hardware tools and wireless/MCU evaluation kit designs and ensuring uninterrupted delivery of kits to consumers. In this role you will work closely with the SW and HW engineering teams. You will also manage the kit manufacturer to ensure products that meet Silicon Labs quality standard are designed, produced and shipped on schedule.
This position offers great diversity. You will be influencing the design as well as production as it pertains to manufacturability, testability, quality and cost. As HW Tools Operations Engineer, you will interact and collaborate with Silicon Lab's worldwide IoT organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with contract manufacturer
- Schedule prototype and volume production
- Provide frame orders to the contract manufacturer
- Inventory management
- Order processing and prototype distribution
- Monitor contract manufacturer performance
- Forecast series production
- Follow up deliveries and shipments
- Cost optimization
- Process improvements
- Product configuration management
- Setup new products
- Maintain and release BOMs
- EOL handling
- Manage relationship with suppliers
- PCB ordering for prototypes
- Set up sourcing of key components
- Quality control of suppliers and contract manufacturer
- Track delivery time
- Monitor product quality
- Handling product returns (RMAs)
Education and Experience:
- MS/BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent education/experience) and 5+ years of professional experience in follow-up of manufacturer.
- Proven experience from leading roles in supply chain & manufacturing
Qualifications:
- Ability to drive change with manufacturing partners & internal teams
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing, including production testing and hardware design.
- Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001
- Genuine interest for process improvements
