Østfold County has around 300,000 inhabitants. The county is close to Oslo, with good train connections from our cities, Moss, Askim, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg and Halden. Østfold borders the beautiful Oslo fjord with a coastline of 382 km. The county has a beautiful natural environment and an active cultural life.
The department for substance abuse and addiction treatment in Østfold Hospital consists of five outpatient clinics and two inpatient treatment centers. The five polyclinics are spread across the county's five cities. The inpatient treatment centers are located in Moss. We also have a liaison service at the main hospital at Kalnes. Our department is responsible for Interdisciplinary Specialized Treatment for addiction disorders (TSB) in Østfold County Hospital. TSB is a young, rapidly developing, field and you will have the opportunity to help create the future of addiction treatment in Norway.
Our department needs doctors who are interested in the treatment of addiction disorders. We have a bio-psycho-social approach to treatment. All of our outpatient clinics provide substitution treatment for opioid addiction within the framework of LAR (Medication-assisted rehabilitation), and collaborate with psychiatry through the FACT team. Additionally, we work with all types of drug addiction; alcohol addiction being the most common. We also offer supportive services to relatives of people with addiction disorders.
Our inpatient facilities provide for detoxification, assessment and stabilization of our patient group. One of our inpatient treatment centers also has responsibility for treatment of patients who are incarcerated.
Our department is an educational institution for doctors specializing in drug and addiction treatment.
Job description
- With inpatient work, the main tasks will be medical detoxification and withdrawal treatment. In addition, our patients often have poor physical health, which requires follow-up when they are with us
- At the outpatient clinics, the main tasks are outpatient drug-use reduction procedures, substitution treatment for opioid addiction, and interdisciplinary collaboration with other professional groups such as psychologists and nurses regarding treatment procedures
Qualifications
- Authorization as a doctor and preferably with specialization in mental healthcare and/or substance abuse treatment
- Work experience with drug treatment and addiction
