We therefore want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions and encourage everyone to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.
Work assignments
A full time three-year PhD Research Fellowship is available at the Department of Research and Innovation, at the Division of Clinical Neuroscience, Oslo University Hospital. The position will be available from 01.08.2024. The PhD Fellow will be a member of the Molecular and immunology studies of MS research group (https://www.ous-research.no/mims) at the Neuroscience Research Unit, situated at Domus Medica 4 at Gaustad in Oslo. The project involves collaboration with researchers and clinicians from the other MS research groups (https://www.ous-research.no/ms/) at the Department of Neurology and the Neurogenetics research group at Department of Research and Innovation (https://www.ous-research.no/selmer/).The project:
The PhD research fellow will be working on the project “epiNOR-MS – identification of epigenetic biomarkers for treatment response in MS – a step towards personalized medicine”. In the ongoing national NOR-MS study, we are comparing two highly efficient MS treatments, i.e. rituximab (Rixathon) with oral cladribine (Mavenclad). We have collected DNA methylation data from whole blood samples of these patients before and after treatment. The PhD fellow recruited to this position will analyse this data set and correlate the DNA methylation profiles with clinical parameters of relevance for treatment response. We aim at identifying predictive epigenetic biomarkers of treatment response and assess whether drug treatment has secondary epigenetic effects in blood samples from MS patients. This is an interdisciplinary project, which includes collaborations with researchers within epigenetics, genetics, statistics, neurology and pharmacology.
