Hotell Utsikten is located high in the picturesque town of Geiranger, offering breathtaking views of the renowned Geiranger Fjord. Since our establishment in 1893, we have welcomed guests from around the globe during our beautiful summer season. As part of Classic Norway Hotels, we pride ourselves on providing an unforgettable experience for our visitors in a charming setting with only 29 rooms and a cozy restaurant that accommodates 40 to 60 guests. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced head chef to join our small but passionate team of around 15 staff members.
As the head chef, you will be responsible for all kitchen operations and play a crucial role in shaping the culinary experience we offer to our guests.
Your responsibilities will include:-
Creating innovative menus for our restaurant that highlight local ingredients and seasonal flavors.

Planning and preparing staff meals for approximately 15 team members.

Cultivating a positive team environment by leading a small team of chefs.

Managing purchasing processes, stock control, stock taking, and cost control to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Minimizing food waste while adhering to environmental sustainability practices.

Implementing and maintaining high cleaning standards as well as food safety systems (IK-Mat), including conducting temperature checks.

Scheduling kitchen staff working hours to ensure smooth operations throughout the season.
Qualifications required for this position include:

Educational background in culinary arts or related field with proven experience as a head chef or in leadership roles within kitchens.

Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, stock management, and inventory control.

Familiarity with food safety regulations (IK-Mat) is essential.

Excellent leadership skills along with the ability to foster an enjoyable working atmosphere among your team members.

Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Scandinavian languages is advantageous.

High in the town of Geiranger, with possibly the best views in the world looking out over the famous Geiranger Fjord, you'll find Hotell Utsikten. With 29 rooms and a cosy restaurant and lobby, we welcome guests from all over the world during our beautful summers. The hotel first opened in 1893 and is now a part of Classic Norway Hotels.
We're a small team of around 15 staff and our restaurants seats about 40 to 60 guests. Our season runs from the last week of May until the middle of September.
