Who we are looking forIf you are enthusiastic, curious and service-minded, are a certified tour guide or eager to become a certified tour guide, then you are the person we are looking for!
Whilst it is a requirement to be certified to guide for Voss og fjordane Guide Service, if you are not currently certified, that isn't a problem, so don't worry, we still want you to apply! We will be happy to support you through the certification process.
Language and communication abilities are key to this position. You need to have excellent command of English and be able to communicate fluently in two or more of the following languages: German, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese. Norwegian is not a requirement but it can be helpful.
If you are already living in the Voss, Flåm, Eidfjord or Vik area then you will be very welcome to join us. You only need to be able to speak English plus one other of the above languages.
For fluency you will need to be between B1 and C2 on the European Self assessment chart, however you should feel confident to guide in the languages you advise.

Arbeidsoppgaver
As a certified Guide for Voss og fjordane Guide Service, you will be providing interesting, informative, engaging, and safe tours to cruise ship guests from around the world who dock in our ports of Flåm, Eidfjord, Vik and Ulvik.
Whilst guiding you will be sharing your knowledge and passion for Norway and our regions' history, culture, environment and landmarks. You will efficiently manage the logistics of the tour and ensure that your guests are feeling comfortable and satisfied throughout.
Among your tasks will be:

confirming and updating your booking schedule
-
meeting, leading and caring for groups of guests on guided tours lasting between 2 and 9 hours
-
following and adapting pre-set route plans according to conditions and timings
-
providing guests with local and fulfilling stories along with factual information about the destinations you will be visiting

team working with colleagues to coordinate the logistics of transportation and venue visits
-
bringing your own personality and creativity to enrich the tour for your guests
-
contributing your insight and experience towards the improvement of our tours and operational logistics together with other guides, our management team and partners

Guide assignments from early May until the early October.

Competitive compensation within the industry, with opportunities for career growth.

Higher payment for tours starting in locations outside of our immediate region, and paid travel time. All transport to and from your place of work is provided by the company.

Two types of contracts both include holiday pay and sick leave rights: one with a guaranteed minimum of 100 hours per month, and another with a more flexible, on-call arrangement.

For Guides who will commit to working with us for the entire main season (May-September/October), we will offer to provide sponsorship for your Guide Certification with the Guide Academy.

If you already have a certificate for guiding in the region, with details of the training provided, then we will be happy to consider this.

Comprehensive training concerning the specific routines and procedures for specific assignments and our operational logistics.

Voss is a small village, so we will support you by finding accommodation for you and we will provide you with details on how to register with the police and tax authorities as newcomer to Norway.
