Job description
VTE, a collective term for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a common disease with serious complications such as the post-thrombotic syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, recurrence and death. It is of Paramount importance to discover novel genetic and environmental risk factors, and to expand our understanding of the VTE pathogenesis. Obesity, a major public health problem worldwide, is a major risk factor for VTE. During recent years, K. G. Jebsen TREC has conducted several studies on the association between obesity and VTE. However, the mechanisms and potential mediators of the association remain unknown. This PhD Project will investigate potential mechanistic pathways for the association between obesity and VTE.
