NORCE Energy is a department at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS and conducts interdisciplinary research within energy resources. The department has close to 200 scientific employees, organized into 8 groups, and has offices in Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand and Oslo. Research activity in the department has a particular focus on energy savings for the petroleum industry and geological carbon utilization and storage (CCUS). The department is also building a project portfolio within renewable energy sources, energy systems, and energy storage, and has ambitions to increase the research portfolio significantly the coming years.
About the position
NORCE Energy and the Well Operations & Risk Management team are looking for a new colleague due to increased project portfolio and assignments.
The research group has a significant project portfolio related to well design, well integrity and plugging and abandonment (P&A) of wells. These projects address technical and operational challenges within these topics and range from applied to basic research.
The position will be linked to ongoing and newly started projects where mathematical modeling and experimental work focusing on full-scale testing and associated analysis are central working methods.The group works closely with the industry and other research institutions, both nationally and internationally and has traditions for taking the research all the way to practical application.
Main work tasks for the positions will include project development, implementation and management of research projects as well as close follow-up of industrial customers and service companies.
The candidate is expected to:
- Deliver high quality work in our ongoing projects
- Have an interest in and knowledge from well design, well integrity and plugging and abandonment (P&A) of wells
- Have relevant experience from the industry, the institute sector or academia
The location of work for the position will be Stavanger, Norway.
Qualifications, personal qualities and skills
Professional qualifications:
- Master degree/Ph.D in physics, mathematics, petroleum science or measurement technology
- Relevant industry experience is preferred
- Competence in physics, mathematics, and drilling and well technology will be emphasized
- Track record of relevant project implementation with publications
- Refer to academically relevant project implementation and publications
- Good analytical skills
