Dog handlers / mushers for dog sledding kennel in Kirkenes, Norway
What we would like you to bring:
• Good physical condition: Lifting weights up to 25 kg, running through deep snow and being able to handle adrenaline-fueled dogs are all part of the job.
• Language skills: English is our official working language. Since many of our guests are from Germany, speaking a decent level of German is also quite useful. Other language skills like French or Italian are also very welcome.
• European driving license class B.
• A positive attitude and a good sense of humour: You will be glad about that during polar night! :-)
What we offer:
• Payment by the hour, with additional overtime supplement where applicable (please be aware: Since we are responsible for the well-being of our animals and guests, overtime can happen).
• Accommodation can be provided.
• Handling and training huskies, driving dog sleds and wagons, surviving in the arctic nature – we have an experienced core staff that will teach you what you need to know for the job.
• Basic work clothing and equipment will be provided.
• Seasonal contract for the winter season. Since we offer activities all year round, extending the contract after the season is certainly an option.

Om bedriften
Situated in the north of Norway, in the beautifully rugged landscape of Finnmark, you will find our dog kennel with 170 lovely Alaskan huskies. As a musher it will be your primary responsibility to make sure that your guests have a safe and enjoyable dog sled ride through the arctic nature. Other aspects of the job include taking good care of our dogs to make sure they are healthy and fit, being a tour guide for larger groups of guests, participating in training our dogs, helping with small and big building projects around the dog yard and of course daily maintenance.
We are part of Kirkenes Snowhotel AS, a company that – in addition to the eponymous Snowhotel – offers a wide range of activities in both winter and summer.
