The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Professor II/Associate Professor (20 %) of cardiology. The part-time
academic position is combined with a full-time (100%) senior consultant position in cardiology at Akershus University Hospital, Department of Cardiology.
The Department of Cardiology at Akershus university hospital is a sizable department in the country’s largest emergency hospital. Our department consist of a cardiac care unit with 11 beds, two usual cardiac care units with the total of 49 beds at Nordbyhagen, a large outpatient clinic with day ward (9 beds) and well-established heart failure outpatient clinic and heart rehabilitation. In addition, the department includes a PM/ICD unit, advanced echocardiographic unit also responsible for right-sided cardiac catheterization and a separate section for invasive cardiology with 24/7 duty. The department also serves a chest pain unit organized under the Emergency Department. At Gardermoen, the department operates a joint ward with surgical division as well as mainly elective invasive cardiology and ablations of cardiac arrhythmias.
By appointment, 40 % of the senior consultant position is expected to be used for research and teaching.
Requirements:
- Authorization and medical license issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health
- Certified qualifications in the specialty of cardiology issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health, this includes qualifications and willingness to fill the role as on-duty senior physician
- Senior physicians in the department participate in general duty including weekend duty according to the existing duty plan in the department
- Foreign applicants may apply, with the requirement that they obtain Norwegian medical authorisation and certification in the specialty of cardiology before joining the position
- Applicants must speak Norwegian, Swedish or Danish to be capable to communicate with the patients in the ward/outpatient clinic
- A strong record in research within cardiology with on-going research activity
- Applicants must have good cooperative and communication skills
- Individual suitability is emphasized
Regarding the part-time (20 %) academic position:
The Cardiovascular Research Group at Campus Akershus University Hospital conducts research at a high international level in various fields of cardiovascular medicine, including cardiovascular biomarkers, heart failure and cardio-oncology. The work ranges from basic and translational science to clinical epidemiology and randomized clinical trials. The group is closely affiliated with K. G. Jebsen Centre for Cardiac Biomarkers, as well as the NorTrials Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases, both located at Akershus University Hospital. Arbeidsoppgaver
Research activity at a high international level within or associated with the focus areas of the Cardiovascular Research Group that could result in research synergies may be taken into the account in the evaluation of applicants. Interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research environment, plans for research and ambitions relating to the applicant's personal teaching practice will be emphasized. The successful applicant will participate in teaching of medical students at the University of Oslo. As a main rule, interviews will be held and references collected.
