Job description
A 20% position as research assistant is available starting 01 August 2024 for up to two years, at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages, University of Oslo.
The position is linked to the research project JEUX (ERC). JEUX explores how cultural practices as a potential site for creativity, innovation and community in the seventeenth century and in the contemporary world. The project examines more particularly literary games of the seventeenth century and how these games can trigger creativity by playing these games in an experimental setting.
Work assignments
The assignment consists in assistance with data collection and analysis (including video and audio recordings, as well as interviews).
The research assistant will also work on the events organized by the project and help JEUX researchers Hannah Freundlich and JEUX PI Karin Kukkonen with other ongoing tasks.
Qualification requirements
- Good oral and written presentation skills in English
- Personal suitability and motivation for the tasks
- Experience with audiovisual data collection and analysis
- Experience with interview transcription, coding and analysis
Other skills that will be valued
- Knowledge of the French language and literature
- Experience with quantitative methods for the analysis of audiovisual and textual data

- salary NOK 460 600 (in a full time/100% position) per annum depending on qualifications (bachelor's degree) in a position as Research Assistant (position code 1019)
- salary NOK 509 300 (in a full time/100% position) per annum depending on qualifications (master's degree) in a position as Research Assistant (position code 1020)

The total period of employment as a research assistant may not exceed two years.

The Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages is involved in extensive research, teaching and outreach in the fields of literature, area studies and linguistics within European languages apart from the Nordic ones.
