About the scholarship position(s)
Molde University College announces up to three PhD scholarships in logistics. The field of logistics allows for a rich set of research topics, but we especially encourage propositions within the following areas:
a) energy logistics
b) transport planning under deep uncertainty
c) IT-applications within logistics
d) sustainable logistics
e) logistics of marine industries (fisheries, fish farming etc.)
f) humanitarian logistics
g) strategic purchasing and supply chain management, under complexity
Qualifications and application
Qualifcations
We are seeking candidates with a strong background in business logistics, transportation, management science, informatics, health care logistics or other relevant subject areas.
Your higher education must equate five years of full-time studies on top of the entry requirements for first cycle studies (bachelor's degree) in Norway. For some countries, this means that you must have more than five years of what is called higher education in your home country. Your master's degree (or equivalent) must constitute at least one full year of studies (60 ECTS), and must contain an individual piece of student work, normally a master's thesis. The minimum average grade of the master's degree must be grade B, or better, on the ECTS grading scale, or an equivalent average grade on other grading scales.
We will also emphasize personal qualities and English fluency. Amongst other things, you are dedicated, cooperative and systematic.

Along with your application, you must submit:
- a description of your proposed research topic, maximum five pages. Please indicate in your application which of the seven specified areas above you would like to address. The description must have a title, an outline of the research, including research question(s), theory, research method and the novelty of the research relative to the existing academic literature. A proposal that does not meet these requirements will cause a rejection of your application.
- CV (summarising your education and work experience).
- certified copies, in English, of educational diplomas/certificates/transcripts that clearly indicate achieved degrees and the number of credits and grades achieved for both undergraduate and graduate studies
- a master´s thesis or equivalent independent student work. If your thesis is in a non-English or non-Scandinavian language, you must provide a certified abstract of the thesis.
- any other academic publications (e.g. conference papers) you wish us to consider
- names, positions and e-mail addresses of three reference persons who we can contact about your academic and personal qualifications
You may be invited to an interview either in-person or via e.g. Skype.
We offer
The place of work is Molde University College. The appointment period is 3-4 years. An appointment for four years would include 25% working duty (teaching, supervising or doing administrative tasks). Your gross is NOK 479 600 a year, of which 2 % is deducted for the Norwegian State Pension Fund. A higher salary may be considered for especially qualified candidates. The appointment will be in accordance with current Norwegian regulations concerning fixed-term jobs in the public sector and guidelines for employment as a scholarship holder at universities and university colleges.
