The role as Hydraulic Designer is part of the Handling Products department in MHWirth. This department is responsible for the design and life cycle of products for pipe/riser handling, BOP and X-mas tree handling, and operator environment. It covers a large product portfolio with high demand of engineering and adjustment for customer requirements and needs.
As part of the Hydraulics (also called Fluid Power) discipline team in Kristiansand, you will be central in product design and development. You will work closely in teams, in a multi-discipline environment, when designing a new product, creating solutions for an upgrade, implementing new technology, or solving issues for products already in operation. As a hydraulic designer, you will be responsible for finding the best hydraulic functionality and components based on the requirements, in close cooperation with the different engineering disciplines. These include hydraulic (and pneumatic) circuit calculations, systems modeling, drawings, and documentation.
We are looking for a senior engineer with relevant experience for this Hydraulic Designer role, but are open to applications from less experienced engineers as well.
Responsibilities and tasks: Responsible for the hydraulics (fluid power) design of offshore drilling equipment, including:
- Cooperate in a product engineering team to find the best suitable solution for a delivery
- Test and verify the functionality of hydraulic systems
- Participate in multi-discipline product development teams to implement new technical innovations or improvements, such as robotic equipment
- Search for product and process improvements and optimizations
- Complete detail engineering of fluid power systems based on agreed solutions. This includes using CAD tools
Additonally:
- Provide technical support to the organization to enhance the solutions for the customers and solve issues that arise
- Able to travel to sites/offshore to assist in testing, installation and service of products, as needed
- Provide sales support input in cost and technical areas
Qualifications & personal attributes:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in a relevant technical education (relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education)
- Proven skills in hydraulic and pneumatic (Fluid Power) design
- CAD experience (2D and 3D)
- Multi-discipline system knowledge is a plus -- mechanical, electro or software
- Customer-focused -- our culture is based on the "Customer First" motto
- Excellent verbal and written English skills. Strong Norwegian language skills is a plus
- Team player who is able to contribute to a great team environment and work towards a common goal/deadline
- Solution-oriented with the ability to organize work independently
